The birth year is only the start
GlobalBazi asks for year, month, day and time because each position can reveal a different animal. A year-only reading stays at the front door.
Each extra detail moves the reading inward. The month adds work rhythm and the season you were born into. The day adds your private style and the needs that show up with people you trust. The hour adds long-term direction.
This is why two people born in the same year can receive very different reports. The shared animal is the beginning of the comparison, not the end of it.
Hour boundaries matter
Traditional hours come in blocks of about two hours. If your birth time sits near a boundary, a few minutes can move you into a different hour animal.
That matters most for people born close to midnight, because the day pillar itself can change. A late-night birth on a Friday may be read as Saturday by some calculators.
If you have an official record, use the recorded time. If not, say the time is approximate so the calculator can mark the hour layer as uncertain instead of confident.
Birthplace affects time conversion
Cities sit in time zones, and some regions have used daylight-saving rules during certain years. Your birthplace tells the system which local clock rules applied on your birth date.
This is not a small technicality. A city far from its time zone's central line can differ from clock time by half an hour or more. For a boundary birth, that shift decides the hour pillar.
If you only know the nearest large city, that is still better than nothing. More precision gives the chart a firmer footing.
Unknown time can still give a first reading
If your birth time is missing, the first three layers still work. Public style, work rhythm, seasonal strength and the Day Master remain readable.
What stays open is the hour layer: future-facing direction and some deeper habits. A responsible reading labels those parts as provisional rather than filling the gap with guesses.
You can also revisit the chart later. If a relative finds a birth record or a hospital note, the hour pillar can be added and the report updated.
Better data makes the report more specific
Reliable animal positions and a clear element balance let the report speak in concrete terms. It can talk about your morning energy, your reaction to sudden changes and the kind of environment that keeps you steady.
Thin input gives thin output. When a calculator refuses to ask for time or birthplace, it is guessing at a layer it cannot see.
The honest trade is simple: give accurate details, and accept clearly marked uncertainty where data is missing.
