The Year Ahead
Shen and Wei share no direct relation, so nothing is arranged for you by the calendar; what happens traces back to what you pass on. Jia Wood feeding Ding Fire gives the year its visible result: the skill taught becomes someone's competence, the shortcut explained becomes the family's time saved for years, and the story told with the work becomes the memory around it. The first half is for the teaching sessions, short and regular.
Midsummer runs warm, so keep them in the cool hours. From the ninth month the year eases and the apprentice's progress shows. A clever Monkey is prouder of the pupil than of the trick.
Career
At 83 the roles left are the craft ones: the keeper of the household's useful knowledge, the fixer of small things and the elder whose hands the grandchildren trust. Choose one or two skills to pass on completely: the recipe with real measures, the repair with its proper tool, the garden task with its season, the family accounts with their logic. Teach in short sessions and let the learner make the mistakes, because the mistakes are the lesson.
Write the steps down as you go, so the knowledge survives even the busy months. Do not do it for them, and do not correct every wobble. The Monkey's masterpiece this year is an apprentice.
Money
A teaching year spends little and values much. Finish the folder with the pensions, accounts, insurance and property papers indexed, and tell one trusted person where it lives. Keep a small float for daily needs with cards and codes stored apart, and keep the cushion untouched.
Set the gift ceiling before the requests arrive, and let every larger decision wait a day. Do not lend or guarantee, and verify any caller through a number you already hold. If you help a grandchild with materials for a shared project, set the figure first and call it what it is.
Lunar months two and eight suit paperwork, the fifth and sixth run expensive, and the ninth and tenth settle.
Love
The year's love is the shared workbench: the two chairs, the flour on the counter and the tools laid out in order. Keep the teaching sessions calm and unhurried, and let the conversation wander, because the wandering is where the stories come out. With a partner or a companion, keep the shared routines and add one small project to do together.
With grandchildren, let them ask and let them try, and praise the attempt before the result. Say what you want for the years ahead while the family is gathered. What is taught in a warm kitchen is remembered twice.
Health
In the traditional picture Jia Wood relates to the liver, the eyes and the tendons, and Shen Metal to the lungs and the breath. A Wood-feeds-Fire year runs warm when the sessions are long, so keep them short, with water on the bench and rest between. Keep the hands warm and the shoulders loose, and let the heavy lifting go to younger arms.
Walk a little every day. Routine checks belong in spring and autumn as your clinician advises, and medication is never changed on your own. The year rewards the light, regular session over the heroic afternoon.
Lucky Elements
Colors: fresh green for your own Wood, deep blue for water and off-white or soft gold. Green strengthens the growing, blue keeps it from burning dry and off-white keeps the workbench clean. Skip an all-red outfit.
Direction: east for wood, north for water and west for metal. A bench by the window, tools in order and morning light suit a teaching year. Numbers: 3 and 8 for wood, 1 and 6 for water, 4 and 9 for metal.
Key lunar months: the 1st and 3rd for starting a skill; the 5th and 6th for rest and light spending; the 9th and 10th for finishing, family and collecting.
Do & Avoid
Do: choose one or two skills and teach them completely; write the steps down as you go; let the learner make the mistakes; keep water on the bench and the sessions short. Avoid: doing it for them when they hesitate; lending money or guaranteeing a loan; correcting every wobble; and measuring the year by what you made rather than what you taught.
The Monkey's year rewards the apprentice. Teach the trick, keep the chair beside you, and the skill outlives the hands.
Your Full Report
This page reads your birth year alone: a Jia-Shen Wood Monkey should teach the craft, write the steps and let the skill live on this year. The full report uses your month, day and hour pillars, plus your birthplace and the historical timezone of your birth date, to correct the solar terms, including the Li Chun boundary, and calculate your personal five-element balance. It maps 2027 month by month, showing the months for teaching and projects, the expensive months and the best windows for family and rest, with your strongest directions and balancing colours.
Two Monkeys born in the same year can teach different crafts once the full chart is cast. The free page shows the shape, and the full report shows you.
